The
Auto laptop desk comes in two different
applications. One is the �custom� auto
laptop desk, which utilizes two of the
passenger seat bolts and mounts directly to
them, so there is no drilling involved. Most
prefer this style since it is easier to
install and does not affect the integrity of
the vehicle. The other style of mount is
called a �universal� auto laptop desk, which
as its name implies will fit into any
vehicle, and is generally less expensive
than a custom desk.
There are several
variations of the universal auto laptop
desk, and depending on the individual
application may require brace legs for added
stability. The universal auto laptop desk
uses self-tapping screws to drill into the
floor or side of a transmission hump, so
there is no pre-drilling required.
Installation of either type of auto laptop
desk is simple, and most users will install
their own within thirty to forty-five
minutes. Once the base plate is in, the
vertical assembly attaches to the base using
a ratchet handle. The horizontal
articulating arm is then set over the top
rod and secured with another handle.
The ABS desktop is the
final step and it is now ready for the
laptop. Easy to follow installation
instructions are included with every mount.
Functionality is a main feature with the
auto laptop desk, as the desktop will pivot
up to about a 90 degree angle and spin 360
degrees on the arm. With the articulating
arm providing 13 1/2� of movement, and the
height adjustment of the vertical rod, there
are virtually hundreds of positions inside
the cab. There are many different
accessories which you can attach to your
laptop auto laptop desk. With a GPS system,
mapping or navigation software installed, it
is recommended to use the optional screen
holder which will stabilize the screen and
save the hinges on a valuable laptop.
Most domestic vehicles such
as Ford, GM or Chevrolet, and Chrysler have
a custom auto laptop desk for their
application. There are custom auto laptop
desks available for the Honda Ridgeline,
Accord, and CR-V. Also, Toyota Tundra and
Tacoma trucks have their own custom auto
laptop desk, as well as the new Nissan
Titan. Whether you are driving a car, truck,
van or big rig, there is an auto laptop desk
for you. Installing either a custom or
universal auto laptop desk will provide a
